From my front door to the base of Mary Jane it takes about an hour.

Half of the drive is on Interstate 70 and the other on Highway 40 which goes over Berthoud Pass.

Because I have a season pass to Mary Jane I usually leave Evergreen about 9:30 a.m. so I don't get caught in the morning traffic rush.

However, yesterday, some other business came up and I ended up staying home.

That's when I received the first call. A friend from Wyoming called to see if I was okay.

"Did you get caught in the avalanche?"

Then another call. "Were you near the avalanche?"

Here's a news clip from TruthNews.com covering the slide.

"Officials say a huge avalanche in Colorado has buried at least two cars on a busy mountain highway and may have sent others tumbling over the edge of the road.

The avalanche took place on Berthoud Pass, 11,000 feet high, about 60 miles west of Denver.
Reports say there are at least seven survivors and one person has been taken to a hospital. Officials say parts of the highway, U.S. Route 40, are closed while they attempt to rescue other people who were caught in the avalanche.

Some officials say this is the largest Colorado avalanche they have ever seen.

The avalanche comes during Colorado's third huge snowstorm in as many weeks. Forecasters say as much as 20 centimeters of snow are expected to fall on the city of Denver Saturday. The new storm is carrying winds of up to 30 miles an hour. "

I just got home from a trip to Mary Jane today.

We passed over Berthoud Pass at the exact time the avalanche hit the day before. From my Toyota you could easily see the 15 foot high wall of snow that had been cleared in two sections.

It makes you stop say "Thank you"

Thankful...not to have gone up yesterday...thankful that no one got hurt.

It also makes you stop and contemplate the power of Mother Nature.

A 100 foot wide by 15 foot high wall of snow, ice, trees and mountain debris answers to no one.

It goes where it wants to go.

Man can build walls, highways and tunnels...yet Mother Nature has the ultimate say.

On the way home two giant (trust me they were huge) tow trucks were pulling up the vehicles that had been forced off the road.

I shot the picture above with my cell phone as we drove by.

Take a look at the car.

As I said...grateful and humbled.

Jason C. The lines at the post office and mall rival those at Disney World during peak season...and now following the 3 feet of snow we received... it truly feels like Christmas.

This post may not be in time for Christmas this year...but you'll find the web resources helpful whether shopping for yourself or someone on your list in the future.

Recently I came across a number of websites that instantly comparison shop different vendors to find the best online price. All you have to do is type in the item you are shopping for and you will receive a list of places where the item is available. Typically the list is organized from the lowest price to the most expensive.

Here is a list of websites you can use to quickly price check for the best online deal:

www.pricegrabber.com

www.shopping.com

http://www.shopzilla.com/

Besides looking at the price you will also want to calculate shipping as well. Some online stores may offer a better deal, but do not offer free shipping.

Also be sure to note the seller's online sales rating. If you see that a lot of people have posted negative feedback then save yourself from the headache of dealing with a questionable store...even if they offer the "best deal".

I like to use these sites not only for making online purchases but also as a peace of mind...knowing that I'm getting a fair price on the shoes or memory card that I buy at the local store.

Merry Christmas!

Jason C. Then I read that credit card offers are prime targets for identity theft...so I bought a paper shredder and began shredding every offer I received. Not only is this a pain, it also wastes a lot of paper.

Tonight I tried something new. It's a website called www.OptOutPrescreen.com The website lets you opt out of receiving pre-approved credit card offers.

This is how it works. There are three main credit bureaus--Experian, TransUnion, Equifax. These are the companies that determine your credit score. They are also the companies that credit card companies like Capital One and Chase will contact to find out who is "creditworthy."

When you go to www.OptOutPrescreen.com you can instantly chose to opt out for 5 years. OptOutPrescreen.com notifies the credit bureaus that you no longer want your information shared with credit card companies.

I just did it tonight...so I can't speak from experience but am hopeful that it works. Be warned however that you will have to enter your data including SS# and DOB when opting out.

If you are tired of the on-slaught of credit card offers you may want to check out the site.

Good luck!

Jason C. The url is www.gethuman.com Once you are at the site click on the "database" tab which will take you to a listing of over 500 companies.

Next to each company is their 800-Number and a section titled "get human customer." This is the real gem.

The site lists the specific steps you can take to get to a live human representative on the phone. No more shuffling through a maze of phone choices until you reach a representative. Now you can quickly get a human on the phone with you.

For example instead of listening through five phone options...making a choice only to listen to another set of options and then another. The site will tell you "Press 3; wait for prompt; press 1; then hold through prompts for representative."

Check it out. It's a great resource that may save you a lot of time.

Jason C. The article pointed to the following website: www.webuildpages.com/cool-seo-tool

Simply click on the above link and you will be taken to a page that allows you to enter your website URL and the keyword you are curious about. After you press enter it will tell you how your website ranks in Yahoo and MSN search engines, the number of indexed pages, the number of keyword uses, etc...

When attempting to improve your keyword rank it can be a slow process. You initiate improvements and then have to wait days/weeks to see a change in rank. It offers people a chance to praise and/or vent about their cell phone experiences.

After reading the reviews I, personally, decided not to get the PDA I was looking at and instead went with another.

Most service providers offer a 15 day return window on a new cell phone. If you are like me it's easy to discover features...or a lack of features on your phone after the 15 day mark. Just ask any associate at a retail store. They deal with unsatisfied customers everyday who want to return or exchange a phone that can no longer be exchanged.

www.phonescoop.com may save you time and possibly headache. Dylan’s usual back-up guitarist was late so Daniels was called to fill in.

“You’ve got to take advantage of the situation,” Daniels told me during an interview. “That’s what happened with me. I was hungry. I was the guy that most wanted to be where I was at that time. Everybody was honored to be playing with Bob Dylan, but to a lot of the guys it was just another session. To me that was the day, and I was cognizant of it.”

Dylan was so impressed with Daniels’ playing that he asked him to stay and record the rest of the album with him.

“Having Dylan believe in me did more to boost my confidence and music career early on than anything else,” Daniels told me.

How often in life do our words change the lives of others far beyond what we ever know?

The “I’m proud of you son” a mother says to her son when he brings home his test score or the “Thanks for planning this” a husband says to his wife as they leave for a vacation can mean more to that person than the highest scores or finest hotels.

Recently we were all reminded of the power of words following the tragic school shooting in Bailey, CO. It’s something that’s difficult to develop, but once you’re able to, it’s as good as gold.”
Brian Hill

Why are some books so hard to put down? You know the feeling. Turning page after page late into the night; skipping meals and workouts just to read the next chapter.

Brian Hill and Dee Power, the authors of The Making of a Bestseller, set out to find the answer. After interviewing over 24 bestselling authors they discovered the quality of “emotional Velcro”.

Author’s who consistently top the bestseller lists are able put ink on paper in such a way that people feel a real connection. As Brian told me, “Once you master that ability you can sustain a writing career for decades.”

Did you know that at any given time 90% of the bestselling books are by authors who have topped the charts before? Look no further than today’s NY Times with heavyweights James Patterson and Stephen King holding down the top spots.

So what is the secret to developing emotional Velcro? What was the one characteristic that Brian and Dee found in all of the authors they interviewed? Writing.

The bestsellers didn’t just talk about writing or think about writing. They actually wrote. The more that they wrote the clearer their voice came through and the easier it was for readers to connect to their writing. In short their writing style became their brand.

What is your writing brand? How do you connect to your readers? The more that you write the clearer the answer becomes. It’s that simple. Good luck and have fun.

Upload Experience: Publishing
All Rights Reserved 2006 Nasoj Publications, LLC

Jason C. The baskets are getting bigger and bigger.

Check out these pictures taken from my local grocery store. Over the past two years as they have received new baskets they haven't thrown out the old ones. As a result there are four generations of baskets at the store.

Each new generation of basket is taller, wider and longer the the last. The new ones don't stack inside the old ones.

It makes sense...from the store's perspective. The bigger the basket...the more food a customer can put inside...the more they spend.

Yet there is a limit. The new baskets are so large that I've noticed people struggling to carry the bulging baskets around the store. They walk around with the basket bouncing off of their hip.

I though that I had surely seen the end of the growing basket size until this week.

The store now has new shopping cart like containers built for the baskets. Instead of a bulky shopping cart these new containers are sleeker and easier to push. All you have to do is place your basket on top and off you go.

Whether it's baskets at the grocery store, loaders at Costco, or additional book recommendations upon checking out at Amazon.com companies are selling us more and more during a single visit.

Is this a good thing...or bad? Quarterlifer's in their late twenties and early thirties understand how to use these industries and are willing to pay:

$100 plus for a new iPod or cell phone
$200 plus for an X Box, Blackberry or Palm
$300 plus for a snowboard, rock climbing gear, snowshoes, or an SUV payment
$400 plus for a flat screen computer monitor
$500 plus for a high definition television

While quarterlifers in their teens and early twenties can't readily afford these items (not that, that stops many...hence the growing credit card debt) and Baby Boomers don't quickly understand them, it is the upper age quarterlifers who are buying these items and influencing others to do the same.

Here is an article I recently read titled:Talking about whose Gen X? Infoworld, Netherlands - Feb 3, 2006

The author, Meg Mitchell Moore, points out how this influence results.

One way is through the workplace. Quarterlifers learn the latest technology while in college and as they graduate and enter the workplace they take that technology with them. As Meg points out:

According to David Morrison, president and founder of Twentysomething, a young-adult marketing consultancy, a prime example of Gen X influence lies in the rapid adoption of PDAs 10 years ago. "When PDAs first came out I watched them become embraced by the business schools," he says. But it wasn't until those Gen X business school students graduated and entered the workforce with Palm Pilots in hand, showing them to their older bosses, that they really took off, he says.

A second way that quarterlifers are influencing the market place is through our embrace of the internet. We are gathering and sharing information through email, chat rooms, instant messages, and website forums. Gone are the days of a single big budget advertising message being spread across the country. Today you can go online and read the advice and experience others have had with the product you are interested in. This has changed what people buy. It makes companies more responsible for their product. Gimmicks, mis-representation and hype don't cut it with quarterlifers.

A third way quarterlifer's have changed the market place is through our early embrace of our parents' lifestyle. We want the luxury and entertainment they experience...but don't want to pay a fortune for it. Take the wine industry for example. Once an indulgence for the rich, today liquor shelves are stocked with $6- $13 dollar bottles. As Meg pointed out:

The wine industry has also started listening to Gen X. "Gen X-ers have everything to do with the ratification of wine snobbery; they're not seduced by ‘wine for the rich,'" he says. "Gen X has created a larger platform from which wine companies and brands can create additional subbrands."

A forth reason why quarterlifers impart influence over the market is that parents and grandparents now actively seek out the advice of their children before purchasing new technology.Once upon a time it was faintly embarrassing--for everyone involved--if parents asked their children for advice. Now boomer parents consistently seek Gen X-ers' counsel before making purchases, particular technology items like cell phones or digital cameras. Gen X-ers are more comfortable with online shopping, and more adept at navigating message boards or other online communities that publish product ratings or consumer opinions. "I doubt that there's a piece of technology that's bought by the older generations without the advice of a Gen X-er," says Fishman.

These are several of many reasons why quarterlifers are being targeted in the market place. Either we are the direct buyers of products or we are the major influencers behind the purchase for other groups.

Let me know your thoughts. Are their other reasons why companies are targeting us so strongly?

Jason C. It was the first day of the conference and hundreds of people were walking around the exhibit hall.

With the exception of her booth all the other vendors were actively greeting and talking to every person walking by. As a result they had lines of people waiting to have their questions answered. Yet in the midst of all this activity she continued to read her book without making eye contact or even acknowledging people as they passed.

Having set up a similar booth many times in my life, I was curious what she was reading that took precedence over the potential customers milling around. As I approached closer I saw for the first time the title of the book she was reading-- Every Business is a Growth Business: How Your Company Can Prosper Year After Year.

It struck me. How often do we continuing preparing to take action when the time for action is upon us. No amount of reading would have been as beneficial to the woman as simply taking action and talking to the customers walking around.

Preparing can save you time, but it can also become a form of inaction. (Really...there is a convention)

Hoping aboard the hotel shuttle we drove down the infamous strip. It's quite a site...going by the Mandalay Bay, New York, Bellagio, and Steve Wynn's new place. Lights, lights, lights, and fountains everywhere.

Arriving at the Las Vegas Hilton I checked-in and made my way through a maze of lights and ringing slot machines. My right hand pulling my luggage and my left gripping a bulging catalog of coupons and advertisements I'd been given when checking-in.

Once in my room on the 26th floor I opened the curtains and looked across at the Stratosphere, Rio and Palms casino's glowing in the distance. It's no surprise Las Vegas is one of the few land marks readly identifiable from space at night.

That's when I noticed the sign. It was perched next to the sink.

Paraphrased it read: "We here at the Hilton care about the environment. If you care about he environment, like we do, you'll choose not to have your towels laundered each day of your visit. Together we can help make this world a better place."

Now don't get me wrong. I think it's a great idea, but come on! That note couldn't have been more ironic. There was no congruency between the water conservation request and the rest of the hotel's energy expending lights, signs and machines.

As a business or single individual when we lack authenticity between what we say and what we do it creates skepticism in others. Whether it's a child not trusting his father or a customer guarded against making a purchase, people sense in congruency. They may not be able to pinpoint it but intuitively they will know "something is not quite right."

Within the last month I was approached by a MLM to buy a home air purifier kit. She raved about the health benefits of clean air.

I didn't buy the kit. In fact, I didn't even look at it. Why? Because I know that the sales woman is a regular smoker. Now, how could I take someone serious about the benefits of clean air that routinely fills her lungs with carcinogens?

Each of us has incongruent and authentic aspects of our lives and/or businesses. Take a moment and ask yourself how you can better walk your talk. It may be through changing your walk (actions) or by changing what you say (talk).

Jason C. Recently I spoke with Gary Hoover about the future of publishing. In the early 80s Gary founded BOOKSTOP—the first bookstore super chain—which was acquired by Barnes & Noble in 1989 for $41.5 million. A year later he founded Hoover’s, Inc. which became the world’s largest internet-based provider of information about companies. Hoover’s, Inc. sold in 2003 for $117 million.

I asked Gary what advice he had for today’s authors. “You have to look at your customer and think about what it is you’re offering and how you’re going to offer it,” He told me. “If someone says, ‘I work with the printed page and only the printed page.’ That’s not a good way to think.

“At Hoover’s, Inc. we became very agnostic,” Gary continued. “We didn’t care if customers wanted it as a book, CD-ROM, online, or a subscription. We even talked about creating three ring binders and mailing them each week.”

As information entrepreneurs we live in an opportune time. Never has it been easier to create and distribute our ideas. The publisher of tomorrow will seek out and take advantage of developing technology. Gary did this in the 90s with Hoover’s, Inc. What started out as a traditional print press grew into the internet’s most accessed site for business information. What opportunities will exist in the next 10 years that you can capitalize on?

Upload Experience: Publishing

All Rights Reserved 2005 Nasoj Publications, LLC

Jason C. A bright twelve-year-old could understand it.”
                 Michael Levine

Ever wonder why some books, people and products stay in the public eye, whereas others are forgotten with the changing of the season? Enter Michael Levine, founder of one of Hollywood’s top PR firms and author of the most widely read public relations book—Guerrilla P.R.

I asked Michael about the role of public relations in the success of his book and clients. “It‘s like gift wrapping,” he told me. “If I gave you a present in a Tiffany’s box you would place a higher perceived value on the gift. The reason that’s true is because you and I live in a culture that gift wraps everything. We gift wrap our politicians, our corporate heads, our movie stars, and even our toilet paper. That’s the process of public relations—taking products and services and gift wrapping them.”

As independent publishers we can learn from Michael’s experience. Unlike authors who hand over their books’ packaging to major publishers, we each have the opportunity to choose the message our book portrays. Just like Michael’s PR firm has packaged and re-packaged the image of countless celebrities, we can change and modify the design of our book to prolong its life. People do judge a book by its cover. What message is yours sending?

All Rights Reserved 2005 Nasoj Publications, LLC

Jason C. From internationally known authors, musicians, and business leaders to our own hometown heroes, they all seem to live by the creed that you can have anything in this world you want if you just help enough other people get what they want.

Take 81-year-old Eleanor Riter of Evergreen. If she’s not around town taking care of children at the daycare or writing letters to friends, she may be on a mission trip to Australia, Turkey, or Mexico. Eleanor is so liked that her pastor once commented, “If the Pope and Eleanor were on stage, people may ask, ‘Who’s that man up there with Eleanor?’”

Why is Eleanor so admired? Because she is genuinely interested in other people. She shares a part of herself and her experience with each person she meets.

Recently, I asked a radio show guest the secret to his popularity and business success. “It’s an old saying,” he said, “but I’ll tell it to you, because if you figure this out quicker than slower you’re going to make a much better life.”

“You will accomplish more in the next two months developing a sincere interest in two people than you will accomplish in the next two years trying to get two people interested in you.”

“Quit selling yourself and learn how to like and help other people. You want raving fans, you become a raving fan of another person. That’s where you’ll make a difference.”

Want to make a difference and be remembered? Take Dottie Walters for example. Author of Speak and Grow Rich, founder of a speakers bureau representing over 24,000 speakers, and publisher of the only international speakers bureau directory, Dottie is considered a legend in the speaking and sales industries.

I asked Dottie what the secret to her success was. "You have to niche and then grow from there," Dottie said. "Begin by asking yourself, 'What am I good at?' and then: 'Who needs it?'"

"When I was in my early twenties I began a newspaper shopper's column. To help grow the column. I went to the library to look up books on women in sales.”

"The librarian searched. She checked the big city, county and then the state library and there was nothing, absolutely nothing. Everything was written by men and for men. So I went home and thought, 'I think I'm suppose to write that book.'"

Dottie’s Never Underestimate the Selling Power of a Women was the first book ever written for women in sales.

“Tupperware bought the entire first edition,” Dottie explained. “Then other direct sales companies like Amway and Mary Kay all bought my book by the thousands and hired me to come speak. That launched me into the speaking profession”

As information entrepreneurs we can all learn from Dottie’s experience. In order to expand our market we must first niche our market. It’s hard to develop a marketing plan for the world, but it’s entirely possible to target a piece of the world. Dottie did it forty years ago when she wrote a book for women in sales. It was an unknown market that opened up a world of possibilities. What industry or group do you know who isn’t being served?

All Rights Reserved 2005 Nasoj Publications, LLC

Jason C. Gain experience in the field you are pursuing

Do not wait until your senior year to work “on the job.” Instead volunteer and shadow within the field you are majoring. This real world experience will help you know if it’s the right degree for you…plus you’ll gain valuable experience.

2. Take advantage of breaks

Once you graduate you will not have as many opportunities to travel. Take advantage of breaks by taking road trips home with college friends, staying in hostels, and working at summer camps. These trips will help shape and broaden your world view.

3. Meet as many people as you can

The network of friends you develop in college may be more important than the academics. Information is not hard to obtain today, but it’s your contacts that will provide you with the opportunities to share that information.

4. Diversify your classes

Look beyond obtaining your degree and ask yourself, “What else do I need to learn about?” For example, you may be majoring in music, but plan to open a school for voice development. In addition, to your music curriculum taking courses in business, accounting, and marketing may be a good idea.

5. Remember that life is a marathon not a sprint

Go easy on yourself. It’s okay not to have your life all figured out. So although I can’t do as many, I can still do just as much. The key for me, as it is for anyone, is to get started today living the life you want to live.”

Jason Regier

Regier was not a typical guest on my television program. Sitting across from me in a wheel chair, it had been seven years since his roll-over accident at age twenty. A senior at Oregon State at the time, he was driving back to Oregon when he did what we’ve all done. He looked down to change stations on the radio. That’s when his Jeep Cherokee drifted into the road construction on the shoulder.

Three days later Regier woke up in Craig Hospital paralyzed from the neck down. A division I soccer player and honor student, he was now faced with having to relearn how to use the bathroom.

As I interviewed Regier I was struck by his insights. Unlike my other older guests, Regier was still in his twenties. He didn’t have a speaking platform, book, or expertise, yet his story and thoughts shook me to the core and caused me to wonder, “Do other quarterlifers—people in their teens, twenties, and early thirties--have just as much to share or was Regier unique because of the accident?

That single question eventually lead to over 400 interviews with quarterlifers from around the United States. After listening to my peers I’ve learned that each of us knows far more than we give ourselves credit for. Often when we read a book or watch a talk show and think, “Wow, that’s brilliant. She is really talking to me.” The only reason the “expert’s” words resonate with us is because he or she has given voice to what we all ready know to be true, but have never had a platform to express it through.

Think about it. We ask each other about our plans for Friday night, but when was the last time somebody asked you a big question like, “How do you discover your purpose?”

Regier inspired me to see that instead of searching for the answer “out there” often the answers exist much closer at hand. We just have to learn to trust what we already know.

All Rights Reserved Nasoj Publications, LLC

Jason C. Steinle

“Interestingly, the second most common comment I get is, ‘I don’t read books, but I read yours non-stop, straight through.’”
Michael Gerber

Ever wonder why some books run off the self, where as others slump into hibernation? Take The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber, it’s wearing marathon shoes. Originally published as The E-Myth in 1986 and then as The E-Myth Revisited the book has sold over 2 million copies and continues to make the business best-seller lists. In fact, the August BusinessWeek Long-Run Best Seller List ranks The E-Myth Revisited as #6.

During a recent interview I asked Michael why The E-Myth Revisited continues to sell and spread by word of mouth. “I think it resides in what people say to me who have read my book,” Michael told me. “They say, Michael you saw me. You’re talking about me.”

“You see as business owners, people are working their tails off--12 hours a day/ 7 days a week. They never seem to get it done,” Michael continued. “They never seem to solve the problems. And in one fell swoop I explain it to them in a way that is immediately available. They instantly get it and it’s liberating.”

As authors, whether we’re drafting our third book or writing our first pamphlet, we can all learn from Michael’s experience. When writing create “Ah, ha” moments where the reader pauses and thinks “this person is just like me.” He or she really understands me. Michael did it with The E-Myth Revisited. Business owners see themselves in his book and 2 million of them have responded with interest.

All Rights Reserved 2005 Nasoj Publications, LLC

Jason C. Steinle, DC

“Eric, I want you to meet Jason, my chiropractor,” was all that Heidi said at the dinner party.

Heidi didn’t say, “Jason specializes in posture correction.” or “Jason has helped me stay active.” No, all she said was “chiropractor” and yet for the next 45 minutes, Eric talked nonstop about his aches, pains and accidents.

Have you had similar experiences?

Like it or not, we’re branded. Chiropractic has a brand—back pain specialists, quacks, wellness doctors, etc... Just ask anyone and they have a story of what chiropractic is and isn’t. What it does and doesn’t do?

Beyond our professional brands as chiropractors, our individual offices have a brand. Your office may be known as the practice that specializes in gentle adjustments, athletes, women, nutrition, etc…

On a more personal level you and I have our own individual brands. We have brands such as caring, knowledgeable, disorganized, etc. Our personal brand is how people think and feel about us.

Because of the one-on-one nature of most chiropractic offices our personal brands become integral to our professional success. In other words, our professional success depends upon what our patients feel and think when we interact with them—from the first phone call to the scheduled adjustment on Monday.

Recently I asked a guest on my radio show--who is an executive at Yahoo! and a best-selling author--how we can build a good personal brand.

“A brand is a promise that you make,” he said. “On a personal level Tiger Wood’s delivers the brand promise “I will win”. Michael Jordan delivered a brand promise of joy, excellence, and being all that you can be. So, what you need to think about is when someone says, Jason—what promise has Jason made.”

He continued, “The way you measure it is by asking, ‘Would it put a smile on some bodies face to say, ‘Jason is here to see you.’ That’s your brand talking.”

“If the person goes, ‘Oh man! Do I have to talk to him?’ Jason’s got a bad brand. The promise is not exciting. “

But if someone says, ‘Jason’s on the phone.’ and I say, ‘All right man! Put him on right now!’

What’s happening is I heard ‘Jason,’ and a little trigger went off inside of my head, not much different than ‘Coke is refreshing’ that said “I like Jason. I want to talk to Jason. He’s a fun guy to talk too.” Whatever that brand attribute is, it happens that fast in our mind,”

What is your personal brand? What is it people feel and think when they hear your name? This next week take a moment to ask patients, family and your staff the following question. “If I were to die today what words would you use to describe me?

By asking that question and listening to the responses you will get a clearer sense of how others perceive you. Remember, no national chiropractic campaign or local advertising can offset the experience people have of chiropractic once they are in your office. You are chiropractic to them. If you want to improve chiropractic’s brand and improve your professional success, improve your personal brand.

All Rights Reserved 2005

Jason C. We bend forward to drive, surf the internet, write a note, take care of the kids, eat, and finish our taxes.

Think about it. We are always bent forward. Unless you’re painting a lot of ceilings or you're a Cirque Du Soleil performer chances are good your starting to slouch.

That’s right…like your parents.

Rounded shoulders, head forward, and that sway back that causes you to waddle. Well maybe you’re not waddling…yet.

Here’s what it looks like:

So what can you do to improve your posture?

The following three stretches will help reverse the slouching posture.

1. Door stretch--

A. Stand with your feet together inside an open door frame

B. Place your elbows or forarms on the inside of the door frame just above shoulder height

C. Step forward with your right foot into a lunge position. Push your chest forward until you feel the stretch equally on both sides.

D. Hold for 20 seconds, relax for 10 seconds, and then do again for 20 seconds

2. Towel stretch--

A. Roll up a towel so that it is 3-5 inches in across

B. Lay on a padded carpet and place the towel across the mid-back (middle of the shoulder blades)

C. Becareful not to have the towel placed across the shoulders or low back

D. Lay down with your arms out for 1-5 minutes.

3.
